Do Hot Dogs Need an Anti-Cancer Warning?

Whoa! Back the truck up!

The topic for this article is almost un-American! I could be tilting at windmills or taking a few swipes at the ole sacred cow here! - - - But remember, I don't make this stuff up!

NaturalNews.com reported last month as follows:

"In a lawsuit filed against hot dog manufacturers, the nonprofit Cancer Project is seeking to force all hot dogs sold in the state of New Jersey to carry a label reading, 'Warning: Consuming hot dogs and other processed meats increases the risk of cancer.'

"'Just as tobacco causes lung cancer, processed meats are linked to colon cancer,' said Cancer Project President Neal Barnard, of George Washington University Medical School. 'Companies that sell hot dogs are well aware of the danger, and their customers deserve the same information.'

"The Cancer Project is a project of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which promotes a vegan diet and condemns animal research." You can read the rest of the article here.

Imagine that! What's next, Apple Pie and Baseball?

The Night Before Christmas, a Veteran's Perspective

"This poem was written by a Marine stationed in
Okinawa Japan. The following is his request.
I think it is reasonable... PLEASE. Would you do
me the kind favor of sending this to as many
people as you can? REMINDING them to PRAY for
our TROOPS... OUR NATION & IT'S LEADERS!!!
Christmas will be coming soon and some credit
is due to our U.S. service men and women
for our being able to celebrate these festivities.
Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of
what we owe. Make people stop and think of our
heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves
for us, BEGIN TO BE THANKFUL NOW...don't wait until
THANKSGIVING TO COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS OF FREEDOM!
Please, do your small part to plant this "small seed"

“Merry Christmas, My Friend” by LCpl James M Schmidt, USMC, 1986

Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone.

I had come down the chimney, with presents to give
and to see just who in this home did live

As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.

No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land.

With medals and badges, awards of all kind,
a sobering thought soon came to my mind.

For this house was different, unlike any I'd seen.
This was the home of a U.S. Marine.

I'd heard stories about them, I had to see more,
so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.

And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home.

He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
Not how I pictured a U.S. Marine.

Was this the hero, of whom I’d just read?
Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?

His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan.
I soon understood, this was more than a man.

For I realized the families that I saw that night,
owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight.

Soon around the Nation, the children would play,
And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day.

They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year,
because of Marines like this one lying here.

I couldn’t help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.

Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye.
I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.

He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice

I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more.
My life is my God, my country, my Corps."

With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep,
I couldn't control it, I continued to weep.

I watched him for hours, so silent and still.
I noticed he shivered from the cold night's chill.

So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
and covered this Marine from his toes to his head.

Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
with an eagle, globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.

And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
and for one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.

I didn't want to leave him so quiet in the night,
this guardian of honor so willing to fight.

But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure,
said "Carry on, Santa, it's Christmas Day, all secure."

One look at my watch and I knew he was right,
Merry Christmas my friend, Semper Fi and goodnight.

Coffee Anti-Oxidants

Coffee and anti-oxidants - now, there's two phrases you don't often hear together! And truthfully, until I saw an article on eZineArticles that tells of the anti-oxidant properties of coffee. Hurray!

It' high time that somebody found something good to say about coffee other than the fact that it tastes good, especially in the A.M., or whenever you happen to start your "day". I start my coffee maker in the morning and usually fininsh the first pot by noon. I throw in a little more water in late afternoon or early evening to get me through the evening eMail and blogs. Some would argue that I am "hooked" on the caffeine, and if I were honest about it I would have to agree. But I claim so few vices (fresh-ground coffee, dark full-bodied ales and fine cigars) that I feel like I deserve this one.

I have been a devotee of fine coffee for quite a few years, and in fact the fresher the grind, the happier I am. I grind my beans fresh every morning just before pouring the filtered water into the Cuisinart Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew™ coffeemaker. If you start with freshly ground beans and pure filtered water, you can't help but taste the full flavor of the bean!

Ahhhh! I can almost smell it brewing right now!

But I digress from the topin of this posting: coffee and anti-oxidants.

The article says that "According to conventional belief and perception, maintenance of a healthy body requires sufficient rest and balanced diets supplemented with some non-drug items. Unfortunately, it is unknown to people that coffee can also perform some wonders with the aid of the antioxidants it contains."

Furthermore, "An already established effect of coffee intake is hyperactiveness, but a recently concluded research on coffee consumption revealed that 2 to 3 cups daily would rather benefit your health than causing any harm."

Now, I have been accused of being rather "hyper" in my daily affairs, but I don't know! Perhaps this new line of thinking relative to the anti-oxidants will allow me to make the claim that there is some redeeming value.

To quote the author again, "Naturally occurring caffeine is also contained in other food substances and drinks such as beer and red wine; and tea and chocolate." Oooooh, chocolate, too! All of my vices have redeeming qualities!

Imagine that!

Enough of my ramblings on-and-on. If you want to know the whole story, you'll just have to go read the article yourself.

If you want a more concentrated form of anti-oxidants, you'll find the best source of natural supplements that are in a bio-available format, by following these links: Isotonix® OPC-3®, Isotonix® Maximum ORAC Formula and Isotonix® Multivitamin with Iron.

Memory Lane: Good, Bad or Ugly?

Today, we're going to take a trip down memory lane - a journey that may well be painful to some. But if you have doubts about my early posts, this video should add credibility to my story.

Watch and learn the truth.

That was like a trip into a past life for me - a journey that I could not dare to take for a long time after I came back - over a decade. I know there are some who could never make that trip back but chose to withdraw - it's called PTSD. Thank God I was able to sidestep that landmine.

My own personal story is the tale of a chronic rash that was the result of exposure to Agent Orange. I'm not sure exactly how or when I was exposed as I was never directly assigned to handle it or trek where it had been sprayed. But I can think of several scenarios in which I may have been exposed, all of which are not in my service jacket! So of course it could not be verified by the VA for treatment purposes.

That's another story and can be found at my Agent Orange Primer web site. The good new of the story is that I was able to find help, even though the VA denied my claim (does that sound familiar to anyone out there?).

I have long been a proponent of natural cures and 'medications' because I believe that that is The Makers intention. And if you've been to my Agent Orange Primer, you are no doubt familiar with my personal story with relation to Agent Orange and an anti-oxidant called OPC. I also believe such a connection exists between Aloe Vera and the cure for many cancers, especially if it's detected early enough. You can purchase both a bio-available form of OPC and a high quality form of Aloe Vera at my OnLine Market Place. Check it out - there's no charge to window-shop.

Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complexes (aka OPCs), Part 2

Several weeks ago, in a previous post, I told you how our bodies are always under assault by free-radicals causing severe cellular damage. Well, I have discovered a video that actually shows this to you. And then the video shows how Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complexes (OPCs) can remedy the damages. Before I share this video with you, why don't you go grab a fresh cup of coffee and sit banc, relax and enjoy the show.

Press the play button when you're ready.

If you want to know more, then watch this video, too.

As you heaard on the second video, these free radical attacks are not the end of the world as we know it. The answer is a balanced diet, coupled with high quality supplements containing anti-oxidants, to augment your own personal health and well-being.

Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins are available in many formats and formulas but the key to efficient absorption into the bloodstream, so that they can be utilized by our bodies, lies in our digestive system. Pills or capsules are taken orally and must be digested (liquified) in the stomach so that they can be absorbed by the small intestine. This method achieves approximately 45-60% effectivity in 40-75 minutes. If these pills or capsules can be pre-liquified or taken in an isotonic state, absorption will be speeded up and optimized. Isotonic delivery systems achieve 90-95% effectivity within 15-20 minutes.

For the best source of natural supplements that are in a bio-available format, try our Isotonix® OPC-3®, Isotonix® Maximum ORAC Formula and Isotonix® Multivitamin with Iron.

If you are already taking a vitamin and mineral supplement, why not try one that is more readily absorbed by your body like our Isotonix®?

Leave a comment if you have any questions and I'll attempt to help you, but please understand that I'm not a doctor and have no formal medical training. At best I know first aid and can do field dressing if we are in combat!

Wine May Protect Breast Cancer Patients From Side Effects

Quoted form Newsmax Health:

"Drinking wine while undergoing radiation treatment for breast carcinoma may reduce the incidence of skin toxicity in breast cancer patients, according to a study in the August issue of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, the official journal of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

"Preventing radiation therapy-induced side effects is an important part of a patient’s cancer treatment management. Several medications are available to help protect healthy organs from the effects of radiation, but they are often expensive, have side effects themselves and can provide protection to tumor cells as well as healthy cells.

"Italian researchers conducted the study to determine if the natural antioxidants in wine would provide a radioprotective effect in preventing acute skin toxicity in patients undergoing radiation therapy after conservative surgery for breast carcinoma.

"Patients who drank one glass of wine per day had a 13.6 percent incidence of skin toxicity versus a 38.4 percent incidence in patients who did not drink wine. “If wine can prevent radiotherapy-induced toxicity without affecting antitumor efficacy, as we observed, it also has the potential to enhance the therapeutic benefit in cancer patients without increasing their risk of serious adverse effects,” Vincenzo Valentini, M.D., a radiation oncologist at Catholic University in Rome, Italy, one of the study authors, said. “The possibility that particular dietary practices or interventions can reduce radiation-induced toxicity is very intriguing.”

The Cancer-Aloe Vera Connection

While I have long been a proponent of the curative nature of Aloe Vera, especially in a concentrated state or high potency juice, there is now a growing following of this school of thought. Read the following exerpt:

"Dr. Lawrence G. Plaskett, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry among many other academic distinctions, states 'The action of substances in Aloe vera does activate and intensify the immune response, and this constitutes one of the fundamental scientifically established actions of Aloe upon the body.'

"It is in the boosting of the immune system's response to antigens (foreign elements in the body) that Aloe vera has shown the most promise in treating cancer. Although no one is yet proposing that Aloe vera is a cure for cancer, it is clear from research conducted throughout the world over the past thirty years that Aloe vera and, in particular, certain specific substances in the plant - have very dramatic and impressive anti-cancer effects. Aloe vera has been demonstrated to enhance the immune system's response to cancer, promote the growth of new and healthy cells, and reduce the overall viral load within the body thereby revitalizing the body in its fight against the cancer."

The full review article can be found here. You can even read the Forward and Introduction (Chapter One) before you buy the whole book. The book is titled "Cancer Cover-up" and is available from www.cassandrabooks.com
